Based in Elgin
Part-time (or full-time depending on the candidate)
Salary: competative, plus tronc
We’re looking for an experienced and friendly bartender to join our team. This is a hands-on role in a relaxed but quality-focused environment. You’ll be serving a large whisky list, great wine, and local beer (as well as good coffees). Experience in quality hospitality is preferred, but our number one priority is a good attitude. We want to know that our guests are in good hand with you – that you’ll treat them well, share a laugh, and get to know them.
You’ll be responsible for preparing and serving drinks to a high standard, keeping the bar clean and well-stocked, and making sure everyone who comes through our doors feels welcome.
You’ll work closely with the rest of the team to maintain a warm, unhurried atmosphere where people want to spend time. The role is based on-site and involves evening and weekend shifts as standard, with some flexibility around scheduling. Pay is competitive and discussed at interview, with tips on top. You’ll be part of a small, close-knit team in a venue that values quality, character, and doing things well without the pretence.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:
• Preparing and serving a range of drinks including simple cocktails, interesting wines, beers, and an extensive Scotch whisky list.
• Managing the bar area — keeping it clean, organised, and presentable at all times.
• Cash handling, stock rotation, and end-of-shift procedures.
• Welcoming guests, reading the room, and adapting your service style to suit — some folk want a chat, others just want their drink – both are cool.
• A willingness to learn our drinks list, and contribute to its development. We want you to be part of growing our offering.
• Restocking, checking deliveries, flagging shortages, and helping with stock counts.
• Working with the wider team to keep service running smoothly, particularly during busy periods.
• Following all licensing laws and responsible service of alcohol guidelines.
• Maintaining exceptional hygiene and food safety standards.
THE RIGHT FIT:
• At least a couple of years behind a busy bar, ideally in a similar setting — somewhere that cares about quality but doesn’t take itself too seriously.
• A genuine interest in drinks — whether that’s cocktails, whisky, wine, or all of the above. You don’t need to be an encyclopaedia, but curiosity goes a long way.
• Confidence and composure under pressure. It’s gonna get busy – keep the heid.
• A natural warmth with people. Good service here isn’t performative — it’s just about being sound and paying attention.
• Reliability and a strong work ethic. Turning up on time, pulling your weight, and looking after the place as if it were your own.
